Hi

1. Water level.

There is a small 'peep slot' on the left 'tank cover' on the 'rib'.  This will show the level of the overflow tank. AND NOT THE ACTUAL level of the water.  The best way is to remove the tank covers (all three) and look at the actual water level in the radiator.  WHEN BIKE IS COLD.  I tilt the bike over to the right to let the bubbles come out.  Too much water can do no harm as it is pushed out passed the preassure releif in the cap. (note: the radiator cap is a special pressure model. The normal Midas type will fit but run at too high (I think) pressure - that could cause problems.

Every time you get off the bike after a trip look at the exhaust just below the waterpump (Left side of bile) for any moisture. (Could be just damp up to actual water drop s dripping on the exhaust.)  this is a 'normal wear part' on the 650 Rotax motors.  The waterpump seal wear a groove in the shaft.  About R450.00 for the kit but a k@#$k job to fix.

While the tank plastics are off check the water lavel of the battery.  These bikes are notorious for overcharging and bioling the water out of the battery.  Also inspect the battery overflow pipe to the right.  They tend to slip out and the acid then ruin the engine paint.

2.  Oil level.

My vrou se 650 gebruik so 300ml elke 700 km as ons toer. (dit is binne fabriek spesefikasie)

3.  Agter rem.

Do the pump kit....the oil return pipe is a b with a serious itch!!!! Along the way. Remove clutch cable.... Down to the last strand... Call donford they have spares, send driver to collect..... Get home and finish...... Bike feels like it's never been better... Only thing is that there seems to be a bit of moisture in the sight glass for the oil.... Should I worry???? Did oil change. Not filter..... Dankie adie v d raad heel in d begin... Andy. I'm gonna taketh old cable to parden eiland to have a spare in my tool bag....

Moisture in sight glass, be cautious.

be vigilant.

However, if the oil does not look pasty white, then there is no water stirred into the oil.

Pity you did not ask before but it's never too late.

while you have the oil return "bitch-of-a-pipe" off, you cut it in half, mid way up, de-bur both inner and outer.

Then put a rubber hose sleeve bridging the gap and joining the two together.

never struggle again.

i have done this conversion for about 5 very happy, adventure riders.

it's fail safe and removes the intense frustration you went through trying to fit it again.

thereafter, you release the jubilee clips, slid the rubber up the pipe and remove the side cover with the lower pipe in situ.

how simple, how effective!
