"Accessory Plug"?

Hi All,

I am still getting acquainted with my bike (Or bikes in general) and have been wondering what the plug next to my ignition is for.

Excuse the ignorance in advance.

I have a 2008 F650GS twin. Usually I would have expected this to be in a format like a cigarette lighter, so I can use it as a power source for e.g. a USB port, but it doesn't look like the cigarette lighter fitting I'm used to.

Is this a power outlet of sorts? Do I need to get an adapter, and if so, where can I get them from? I would like to be able to use it as a USB port to charge my phone.

Thanks for your help for this Newbie!

It is called a "Hella" plug, and there are many adapters and even USB chargers for it.  You will come right at FlyingBrick for sure.

And yes, it is a power outlet, just like a cigarette lighter plug.

It looks like a 2-prong / 2-pin?

Hi Jackie - pop in, we can definitely advise you, as Charles says, that is usually a HELLA plug, and we have HELLA accessories to FIT that plug, as in a Dual USB 2.1amp adaptor for say charging a cellphone as well as a GPS, etc.

Usually, this plug looks like a SMALLER version of a 'regular' cigarette-sized socket, and not 2-pin? So maybe pop in, I would like to see it!

thanks

ok, that is a 'bog-standard' Hella plug, we have ADAPTORS to allow you to 'convert' that power to USB, etc.

(and we have other items that plug into Hella, as well).
