The ABS pump is an issue!

I just went thru the exersize with a r1200rt. Donfords have one for +_ R28k, secondhand it is about R11k.

There is a ad on gumtree currently for R5k.  http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-replacement-parts/knysna/abs-problems-on-your...

Mine was eventually just removed.

Let's ride!

Took my ABS out years ago.  Never looked back.

I hated the ABS on my pervious bikes- always having to switch it off when on dirt. We do not have snow and ice as in Europe- throw it out. Definately not needed on tar.

I have a 2009 ex factory non ABS 1200GS if you want to see the brake lines on such a bike.  Bear in mind that the dealers will not be allowed to do this.

Their are TWO people who repair ABS units, both charge R5K, and give a good warranty on their work.

The Knysna /Gumtree chap is newer to the game, but does a good job by all accounts...

The other chap is in PE, his nickname on the WD Forum is JUGHEAD, he has done many, many such repairs, all with zero comebacks.

This is a 'known' problem with model year 2006, as well as 1st 3 months of 2007; yet not all of them fail. BMW changed suppliers after this.

Thanks for the informative comments. The circuit board is fried so not much chance of repair. I have also decided to get rid of it, as actually prefer direct braking.
