Hi Guys, This is a great thing to do and it's an enjoyable day. Please bear in mind though that it's not simply a day spent cruising closed roads. For these Rotary events, unfortunately the roads are NOT closed to other traffic. The cyclists, no matter how many times they're told to stay to the hard shoulder, they don't! You will find yourself positioning your bike as a tail escort to a pelaton which will result in cars riding right up under your tail-light. This is not intended to put a dampener on enthusiasm, but to make you aware that if you do this, and have not done so before, your awareness of all that's happening around you must be at an all time high. If you can herd the cyclists safely through the course, assist one or two here and there, it'll make for a highly rewarding experience. If anyone is considering participating, but would like a bit of advice, they're welcome to call me and I'll let you know who has done this before and who can offer additional advice. I'm proud that Rotary respect the BMW club sufficiently to reward us with this invite. Thanks to those who volunteer. Cheers Lawrence Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadsides, loudly proclaiming WOW, What a RIDE!
