Hi All,
Does anyone else experience issues on downshifting with 2013 BMW GS1200 LC?
Slowing down to a complete stand still with bike engaged (3rd gear or 2nd gear) with the clutch pulled in, it does not want to downshift or even engage neutral or 1st gear for that matter.
BMW SA pushed Germany to replace engine and gearbox - they only replaced the gearbox under warranty. Before the gearbox was replaced i also noticed when bike is cold the clutch travel takes low and when warm it takes high. That seems resolved now with new gearbox.
I find myself pulling away in second gear most of the times as i cannot get neutral or 1st gear :(
let dealer check for cotton waste between engagement shaft and mounting seat of clutch master cylinder
My second LC was a 2013 model and experienced similar issues
Atlantic removed the clutch master cylinder and found a golf ball size piece of cotton waste. I took a couple of photographs of this rubbish and still have it saved somewhere. They removed it and drained and bled the clutch which fixed the problem.
great many thanks for the info. if you have pictures to share and can find them would you please email them to me?
As we have about 15 in our fleet I can rlate to the problem
I have found that the problem is always at about 8000km from previous service and therefore we change the oil ever 5000km
problem solved
Hi Ruan,
This is with brand new oil. glad you sorted.
Maybe bleed the clutch ?
Is the bike still under guarantee, if so make it the dealers problem, ask them for a loan bike while they have yours.
Hi Tbk
That was the strangest thing I have seen.
Sorry Just can't resist ,
maybe it's that time of the "month"
indeed, hey Ruan?
Did you not report that Jan Staal's bike had similar problem?
