SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE END OF THIS POST FOR THE MOST CURRENT UPDATES.
The planning for the 2013 BMW Bike Fest has started and it is happening right on our doorstep.
BMW Clubs Africa is bringing the Bike Fest to the Goudini Resort near Rawsonville from the 21st to 24th March 2013, which includes one public holiday, so you really only need to take one day leave.
I could not attend this year’s event in Grahamstown, but Oudtshoorn 2011 was the best motorcycle gig I have ever been to, and, as many of the new band are helping to arrange aspects of Bike Fest 2013, we hope to make it one of the best ever.
So, book the necessary leave and start putting R150.00 in a tin under your bed every month as bookings will open around December. Believe me; you don’t want to miss this event.
We will let you have more details as they become available.
Great! After missing the last 2 events due to problems around the dates, these dates suit us well and the surroundings are exciting. Bring it on.
Lesotho Dirties: Saturday 16th to Monday 25th March 2013.
I will just have to wait for Bike-Fest 2014
And we need more bookings to secure the exclusive use of the Goudini Spa Resort for that weekend.
So if you are still thinking about it, or just haven't got round to registering and booking yet, the Spa's accomodation is held for us until end January.
Yes, I know it's close and most of us have probably ridden the Cape flat already, but it is an opportunity to spoil yourself and your family at the resort for three nights whilst enjoying the fantastic atmosphere that always prevails at such an event.
We have some top musicians lined up for entertainment and there is plenty to do at the resort if you are not keen on riding for all the days.
So please folks, get your bookings in as soon as possible.
Every year so far I have won an awesome prize. And the thought of BMW Central having more registrations than our club gives me the heebie jeebies.
I'm getting married that weekend, so I guess that's me not attending, unless I could somehow work it so that ....
Zebra
It may well be cheaper to get married !!
I have enquired about single accomodation R 1066 / night for a single rondawel. You have to take all 3 nights.
Thus R 3 198 for accomodation plus R 800 entry fee.
So R 3 998 to go to the fest (and I can really only go Friday - Sunday - so 2 nights)
A bit rich for me when I have the BMW Motorrad to save for.
Mike is for instance looking to share with someone.
Here is an example from Dave de Bruyn and Rita is helping people find single sharing accomodation or rooms in houses so speak to her if you need help.
David+Rita have booked a Boland House (4 rooms with 2 bathrooms) – all this this implies is that you have to share bathrooms with one other.
So far booked into it is 2 males that will take the upstairs – anybody is welcome to take the other 2 rooms – ideally with a buddy that they are okay to share with.
Cost is R 667.50 x 3 Nights + R 2002.50, which will be paid directly to Goudini.
Contact Rita or David - David (+27 833271940) or Rita (+27 761647263).
BUT Hurry up – as these are going fast and furious!
Jean and I have attended 3 Fests, to justify the cost we amortised it over the 3 days, the sting not too bad then. It is a magical event at an excellent venue. I know we have ridden all these roads several times already but to meet and ride with other "gang" members is just fantastic. build up new relationships, you might need a sleep overor assistance in their part of the world one day.
Registered and paid. Now for accommodation.
Mike, het jy al iemand gekry om mee te deel? PM gestuur.
Goeiemiddag. Het iemand dalk nog akkommodasie plekke oop wat hul wil deel? Ons is twee mans - ek en my neef (dws geen dubbelbed asb!)
Dankie, Du Toit Viljoen

"PS. Bone to pick with MCC Cape – we only have 36 people booked from MCC Cape.
Before it was always too far to go to a Bike Fest or a GS Eco– now it is probably to close…"

Come on Cape Town BMWMCCC, don't miss this excellent event.
this is an annual event, laid on by BMW clubs in SA, for BMW bike riders.
by the people, for the people, with the people.
a full year of excellent organization, with very little help from Motorrad, put together by a small team of dedicated club members from around SA for you.
because YOU have commented that we do not get together enough.
three Bikefests produced a legacy of fun rides and stalls and drink and food and...
Sorry man, ons kon nie langer wag nie - het eergister betaal vir 'n plek by Goudini (nogal duurderig...)
Sien jul daar!
Hi
A customer purchased Butt-Savers from me, and is riding from Tzaneen all the way down to the Bike Fest. He bought them in plenty time (3 weeks), but they have not arrived due to the postal strike! They are stuck in th epostal system, and are not 'emerging'!
Could someone going to the Bike Fest take ANOTHER set out the the bike fest, so this gentleman can at least ride BACK to Tzaneen with a comfortable backside!
They are packed in a small cardboard 30 cm box, I have all his contact details, and they could be collected from me NEXT Wednesday, or else easier still, I would deliver them to whoever can get them to the Fest.
(I cannot attend due to the small mattrr of a Wedding to attend!)
Thanks, Chris 0722117725
And I will take it.
Has anybody got a final count of members going to the Bikefest?
That it the absolute total, I am not too sure how many Cape Members are going any more, not more than 50 though.
I was out at Goudini on Tuesday with the muscians and sound and lighting guys sorting out sound, stage etc. For the first time ever, live and different entertainment on all three nights and some of Cape Town's top entertainers will be there.
It is going to be fantastic.
And the broadcast dates are confirmed, 27 and 28 April, Ignition Chanel on DSTV, not part of the Bike Show or anything, but our own stand alone program about the 2013 BMW Clubs Africa Bikefest.
Thanks for all of your, and your team's, hard work for Bikefest Warren. I'm sad to be missing it, and we'll try and think of you from Lesotho.
Best wishesf for the event. If the effort that has gone into it is any measure - it is going to be fantastic.
Awesome news that efforts have been rewarded with a TV spot. That's just brilliant. Great work to you, Trevor and all that made it happen.
Yeehaaaaaa, just two more sleeps then we're off to Goudini for the Bikefest!!
Almost packed n ready!!
Looking forward to meeting y'all there and to the gymkana..
Being getting updates by email and looking at the routes.
So what about the routes.
Well Thursday I'll take the southern gravel ride.
I'll put a list on a clipbaord near registration.
If you'd like to join our little group for a nice group ride on Friday, then put your name on the list during Thursday and we'll meet after breakfast- say 08H00 for a 08H15 departure.
We can be back in time for the gymkana- take part or just watch it.
Then the same thing Saturday, only a different route.
And same thing for Sunday.
Whoever is man enough, ltes do the third gravel route and then wend our way home.
Sound like a plan???
If you have come down from out of greater Cape Town, thank you and thanks for choosing to spend your weekend at the Bikefests.
if you'd like to Join me and a few others on one of the gravel routes... We can show you some awesome places and share some of the history with you.
ILl be the one with a bright green ostrich feather in my helmet.
