Why bother? Unless the friend wants to sell the bike? Or only rides tar? As Carel said, it will break off again in a few trips' time. People warned me to remove mine when going off-road, as I'd lose it. I didn't bother and, sure enough, the scoop is gone, but at least I still have the chain-guard section, held together by the ubiquitous cable ties.

suggest that IF your friend does find one, he NOT fit it until if/when he SELLS the bike, then the bike will look nice and complete!

they break off easily, from serious offroading,

or else when another bike rider stops accidentally with his back wheel against YOUR back wheel, say on a narrow trail, the motion breaks that pooper-scooper right off, so rather leave it off, where possible...
