Hi all
I know there are a few forum posts on this topic but I wanted to double check a few things.
My 2006 1200GS has been sitting for a few months and when I tried to start it with a battery start kit that I've got all I could get is a clicking sound so I figured it must be the battery voltage and my jump start kit isn't strong enough.
I've done the following:
- Tried to jump start the bike with my car (car running)
- Disconnected the battery and connected my jump start kit directly to the leads on my bike (the kit should supply the right voltage)
- Disconnected the battery and connected my car with jump cables to the bike cables (car running)
Having done the above Im starting to wonder if it is something other than the battery since I removed the battery from the circuit and I still couldn't get the start motor to engage.
Am I doing anything stupid and can anyone tell me what to test next?
Thanks in advance
Nic
I'm biting the bullet and buying a new battery. Fingers crossed
Hi. Just curious, was it the battery?
Yup, threw a new battery in and it jumped back to life. I had abused the old battery since I didnt have access to a plug point. Now I've gt it back on its Optimate when not in use for a while.
