Can one of the folk with a 1200GSA please do me a favour? I need to know the total width of the bike at 2 points: 1. accross the handlebars, and 2. accross the panniers at the back. Can one of you pease measure it for me? TIA Dale

Oy, c'mon you GSA owners, lets "get it on" for Dale. Would the dims off a 1200 GS with BM panniers work Dale?

Mike, Thanks but I'm specifically looking for the Adv dimensions .... I know the regular GS will fit in the space I have ... was wondering about the Adv. Negotiating the purchase of a second bike with the SWMBO has been reasonbly easy ... telling her I need to modify the garage because of it may not be :-) Dale

Dale have a look on the motorrad site: GS http://www.bmwmotorrad.co.za/bikes/models/default.asp?Id=48 GSA http://www.bmwmotorrad.co.za/bikes/models/default.asp?Id=49 In both cases goto the bottom of the looong page. Total width including mirrors GS 940 mm GSA 980 mm I did not spot anything about the panniers. But I do believe panniers are typically narrower than the mirrors. Your answer would be to go for the R 1200 RT - ONLY 905 mm wide !! ;)

Dale, panniers are removeable, the mirrors can turn in, so just the bars. NOW Learn from Ladies....they start HUGE changes with small steps, a smile, then a hug, then a kiss... then a child, then a new house. So first get the bike, then if you need, do the garage!:-)
