With all things said and done in http://www.bmwmccc.org.za/helmets-screens-and-all-things-wind-and-noise the advice seems to be stick with your original screen.
BUT all the GSA's are fitted with larger screens than the GS's - why? Does anyone know of anyone who has put a shorter screen on their 1200GSA?
Also - has the screen design changed since the first 1200's came out eight years ago?
My screen (2005 GS) has been scrapped after my recent accident. I've always wanted to fit a GSA screen in my quest for a quieter ride and despite all the advise here, still feel that it is the way to go.
Any other advice would be most welcome.
Is don't buy a screen without being able to try it out first as every screen will work differently for every person.
I think that's where some folks are wasting alot of money.
When I used the 1200 Adventure, the screen was awesome, not really quieter than others but the wind protection was really good, almost too good, as I found myself getting really hot behind it, even in my mesh jacket.
But you need to try it first, very important.
I have recently ridden a GSA and although I did not drive it for a long period nor very fast, found it much quieter and less windy than my bike hence my question.
You may recall that I had an aerotrim as well but never got it to eliminate the wind a well as the GSA.
Hi Bob,
I've just had a quick look at the mounting brackets for the screen on a GS and the Adv.
They are different in that the ADV has an additional bracing bar for the windscreen, I suppose for extra support for the larger screen.
Adv screen might involve changing the mounting bracket as well, if it will fit the GS.
I have an Adventure screen on my GS. Fits perfectly - only top bar needed extra.
Bob, when you are up an about take it for a test.
I'll take you up on your offer this weekend. Will phone on Sat.
