1150GSA brakes question

perhaps some of the 1150ADV owners can help .... I have been looking for a ADV for a while, and while the 1200 seems to be the natural choice, there are elements of the 1150 that I find really appealing. The one down-side of the 1150GSA is that they all seem to be fitted with the Integral ABS system (the one with the servos), the same as the first 1200's. Is it true that when the ABS fails to initalise, then there are no brakes at all? what happens if this occurs far away from a dealer? Is there an override facility so that you get full braking functionality without the ABS? Anything else I should know? TIA Dale

Dale, My experience on my bike and on leon's old bike is that there is RESIDUAL braking. You can stop, you can operate normally but you do need to grab a fistful of brake if in a hurry to stop. It's doable and other than mine, I've not heard of the booster pump failing. When my ABS failed, I road for a few months while the warranty question was being handled and got used to the riding very quickly. In the end, I opted to remove the entire ABS system, - booster pump/servo unit, pipes etc and run my brake lines direct from actuator to braking unit. I'm very at home with the current arrangement. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.
