If you pull the rubber off you would see that there is another fitting just like it on the cylinderhead and these fittings are actually for a set of genuine jumpercables available from BMW at a small fortune

Dale, pop by me anytime and I'll show you quite a few items on the 1150GSA that were discontinued because the orginal "Camel-Man' adventurer is a thing of the past and BM now caters for the SUV market which is so much bigger. in fact all suv's nowadays are bult for the pavement not the outback even Labdrover has sunk to going plastic and electronics. After 2004 BMW GS's went 32 kilos lighter and into plastic an bling- and thats what sells bikes these days. http://bmwmccc.org.za/1150-what Your 1150GS & GSA have a host of really neat, well designed items that :_ make fuel transfer, (yes, you can pump fuel from an 1150 into a can!!!) - battery charging, -power take off, - airbox draining, - oil overflow solutions. and wait.. there's more... - snorkel friendly mouth of air intake and snorkel The 1200 gs, if overfilled drains excess oil straight back into the sump????!? Also any water into your airbox is express delivered straight to the Left timing chain and then propelled to every journal on the sub-assembly thus destroying the engine far faster than you can throw a stick at. Not that you ever hear of this happening or been spoken of- only on the baviaans trip of 2008 was this type of incident reported on this forum. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.
