I recently bought an 1150GSA with 120000 Km on the clock and I've discovered that the discs are shot.

I put new pads in the rear and they were finished after a week - the calipers were stuck so repair needed and the discs have been mangled over a period of time.  The front discs send messages to my right hand via the brake lever too.

New ones cost about the same as Julie's Honda, so if anyone has a contact or knows where I can get some for a reasonable price I'd be very appreciative!

This morning I cleaned my back caliper and replaced the pads.  This is a caliper I spent 5k ronts replacing a while ago because it was binding and overheating etc.

At the front, Mr. Badger's disks shift around on their bolts with those spring washer things.  As the wheel turns they squeek.  At first I thought it was the bearings.  But Shane says it's OK for now, so I live with it.

Pete, you should try Acme in JHB - they might have something (maybe even a whole front wheel or something).  There must be many bikes with broken/buckled front wheels that you could buy from the scrap or from insurance.

Pete search on Wilddogs (unfortunately cannot acces at work otherwise I'd post link). I saw a post recently where someone had disks made by Waterjet Technologies (Fidel) and was saying they were a fraction of the price of the OE ones.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Charles, Andy fixed my rattling front discs with rubber o-rings ... works like a charm.

I'll go and have a look at the waterjet guys and also give Acme a call.

Apologies Charles.  I should have been more thoughtful, knowing you are the quiet sensitive type.  Won't happen again!!!  :-)
