On a personal level, today's off-road trip boasted some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen - from wild horses and thier foal to some amazing landscape views - BUT the BEST part was - we could all experience this while on the motorbikes.
The ride to Moorresburg, which was carefully organized by Geoff Russel and Warren Ellwood (who was also the sweeper of the day) was full of dirt, dust and loads of potholes. But it was also breathtaking and exhilirating.
The weather played along and was warm and sunny and everyone couldn't wait to get to the much anticipated eating destination "Die Hut" - where a three course buffet awaited us - this proved to be the perfect ending to a wonderfully dusty and adventurous day. (We all left with our gear feeling a little tighter around the tummies!)
Today, I was riding as my dad's pillion partner and decided to trade holding onto the back grips to holding onto my "Happy Snappy" camera instead. I was determined to get some "Action" shots and capture what was around us. Enjoy the photographs which capture this amazing day-trip!
(On a little side note: There were only two little mishaps on the ride. Stan's front wheel blew out but was quickly fixed, and David Cade had a faulty fuel light - but just to be safe, Chris towed him to the nearby petrol station.)
2. The group having a stop - I couldn't resist taking the photo against such a magnificent backdrop.
3. Some of the members having a chat...
4. Graham having fun on his 1200 GS
5. There was plenty of dust and dirt to play in.
6. OOPS! Stan's front tyre decided to resign.
7. After about half an hour it was fixed
9. Another group shot
10. Marc followed by Warren
11. Sian riding her bike up ahead of us
12. David being towed by Chris
13. Where our taste buds experienced "magic"
14. REALLY enjoying the buffet
15. Little Madison showing us just how delicious she thought the dessert was
Was feeling sad I missed it ... until I saw the pic of Maddie's chocolate smile! So who was the lucky guy she got to kiss?
Her Dad!
Thanks Megan.
A most enjoyable ride indeed topped off with a lovely lunch and lots of great company.
A sure recipe for enjoyment.
A HUGE thank you to everyone that provided willing hands and tools at the road side to get me back on the road again asap.
This was my first off-road ride since my Namibian wipe-out 10 weeks ago, and I have to say that my life flashed before me once again when that front tyre blew. Fortunately I managed to stay on the bike while I brought it to a halt.
All in all, a beautiful day with fantastic company. Thanks guys and girls.
Thanks Warren, Geoff and everyone invoved in the organising. It was a perfect day in every respect.
Gee, Megan. You don't waste much time in getting your reports up on the forum. Great report and great pics.
I didn't even take one pic with my new camera.
Hats off to Geoff and Warren for yet another wonderful day in the saddle. Thanks Guys. You even arranged the most perfect weather.
Sorry I had to leave early and miss the lunch. I needed to be in the south by 3pm and only just made it with 5mins to spare.
Well done to Megan for getting the pics & report up so quickly.
Have a good week y'all.
