Members who ride a R1200RT

Rob
Hi, my name is Rob. I have been riding for 46 years now and just purchased my first BWM 2 weeks ago. Thought I would check out your excellent forum for some possible tips. I came from Canada in 1990 and enjoy the fact that I can ride my bikes year round in RSA. I also ride my Harley and my Yamaha, or maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that :-)

I've been riding bike for 9 years as only transport, 17 years ago. Now bought 2nd hand 2005 R1200RT (low km and immaculate) - received Friday 30 October'09. Me and my wife want to relax with the bike during weekends & would enjoy tours. We live in the Strand.
Chris de Villiers married to my pillion Pat for 40 years. I cannot start the bike without her hopping on. Started on a BSA Bantam in the 60's and then did nor ride for nearly 35 years. We do at least one long trip of 3 to 5000Km per year. Retired - best job I ever had.

Name is John. Prefer tar. Like going on rides to interesting places.
My name is Gopaul Padayachi and my friends call me Gops.I was a serious bicycle rider and did quite a few rides including the Cape Argus and the Amashova Shova. I stopped riding the bicycle due to back prolems and took up motor biking instead.I am now hooked. I've done a trip from Durban to Vic Falls (yes Zim.) via Botswana in Dec.2007 on my one R1200RT.I am now in the process of trading that in and getting the new R1200GS. My wife accompanies me on some of the trips (we've done the old Eastern Transvaal in Sept.last year).I would like to do a coast to coast East To West. I am not too sure as to how good a commuter the 1200GS is. Maybe someone can help me.
