Hot and dusty we rode into Oasis Cederberg to greet out host Gerard, and get our booked accommodation sorted.
Henk was the champ bagging the room above the restaurant with multiply bed option, the rest of us got the A-framed tents while Lenie, Sonja, Michelle, Susan and Nicole the campsite next to the braai spot.
In no time at all most of us were sitting in the shade, beer in hand performing a ride autopsy much like a group of ruby fans after a big match, while watching the girls pitch their tents.
Come along and join us on a nice relaxed ride to the fantastic Cederberg Oasis in the Cederberg Mountains.
19 - 20 October
There will be 2 groups.
Group 1) The beginners will be led by Rouen Williams who will take you to the Oasis at a nice easy pace.
Group 2) I will take the more experienced riders on a slightly longer route that will be pillion friendly.
If you're interested in a scenic post GS Trophy ride, then join Donford Stellenbosch for this Pillion Friendly Off-road ride. There will be about 60km of dirt riding and about 140km of tar leaving from Donford Stellenbosch - Ceres - Op Die Berg - Cederberg Oasis (for lunch).
Details:
This trip has been written up already, so this report is more a “bits-and-pieces” piece on all the interesting things that happened from my perspective.
I think Geoff may have been nervous about me and Lance joining his group on the Lambert’s Bay ride, given our track record on the last 3 rides with him:

My Epic adventure – a journey to all emotions!!!
Roundtrip: 16 - 18 June 2016
Home to Oasis to Middelpos and back again
943 kms!
What a roller coaster ride this turned out to be. Some parts I wish to forget, and hence the delay in speaking out about it. I just couldn't get myself to accept that the discipline I've come to love so much, and thought was all sunshine and roses, has brought me back down to earth with a serious thump!
Background
I have been struggling to keep up with ride reports, as I have been riding more than writing! Ever since mid-June there’s only been 5 weekends where I have not been on my motorbike for at least a full day (v.s. 10 weekends of 1-3 days trips!). Addicted much?
The Libravision crew who are busy with the filming of “Look What You’re Missing” were / are planning to go and stay at the Cederberg Oasis for the evening of Saturday 14 September, to finish some filming along the Wuppertal / Eselbank route as well as the final scenes for episode one to be filmed at the Oasis and some of the surrounding areas.
After a few frantic emails and new posts on club website and Facebook the much anticipated ride to Oasis and surrounds was recheduled for Saturday. Apparently the weather forecast of a few drops of rain for Sunday necessitated the sudden change. A closer inspection of the DSTV programme guide reveals the real reason for the change - Superbike racing at the Nürburgring. Nice try Geoff and Warren.
To answer the question: the TraTra drif is definately a place to celebrate: it is beautiful next to the river; sandy, soft camping site on the bank of the river, fantastic setting with a steep rock face occupied by a large troop of baboons, clean drinkable water, a waterhole to swim in and it stays in the shade until about 8am this time of the year.
