*4x4 Outride photo's below*
This past weekend was a mixture of tranquility, dirt, dust, mud and adventure in the Engelsman se Berge.
Saturday morning began with a torent of rain and an exchange of nervous glances between the riders. Warren declared a vendetta towards all weather stations and weather sites and we all tugged on our rain suits and warm goodies.
Luckily, the rain cleared pretty soon, leaving the riders with a lot of mud and slippery surfaces to face - enjoyed by most of the riders! I know a few of the riders "bought plots of land" that day
The route also boasted some of the most beautiful scenery and we all throughly enjoyed what nature had to offer. If you haven't done this route yet - it is most definitely one to add to the list!
That evening we enjoyed a delicious spit braai and were lucky enough to have a projector and screen to watch the England vs. South Africa rugby game on. Warren, decked with his British supporters top and red and white hat, was a loyal supporter for about 70 minutes into the game, after which he decided to go and find his South African supporters top.
The next day had a "treat" in store for the riders. Sybrie, took the riders on the 4x4 route on his farm and it truly was an experience to photograph and watch the riders tackle sand, water and churned up mud. No doubt the men thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The way home was just as amazing as the way there. I think everyone will agree on that - the roads had dried up so it was dust all the way At some point 3 KTM riders passed the group and Warren educated them that he, under no circumstances, is left in anyone's dust.
The day ended with a trip through the twisty Bain's Kloof Pass and I think everyone will agree that we were sorry to see the weekend end.
Thank you to Warren for yet another spectacular trip, and Sybrie who always welcomes us onto his farm with open arms. And to all the riders who contributed to making this trip a memorable one
4 x 4 OUTRIDE PHOTO'S
The 4x4 route on Sybrie's farm is not for the faint hearted. I stood at the last section of the route - the most challenging section. Deep sand and churned up mud and soil welcomed the riders. These are a few of my favourite photo's.
having a bit of fun!
Thanks for not showing the 2 plots of sandy Cederberg I purchased. Judging by some of these shots they are now timeshare !
Thanks Megan for the write-up and cool photos.
Must say the photos really show the great skill demonstrated by all.
Thanks Pam
Nice Adie! For somebody who takes pictures ala Kid Colt style you do a pretty damn good job.
