The last Country Trax Klipbokkop training weekend of the year took place on the weekend of 13-15 November, with quite a few BMWWC members participating. The 20 participants were split into three groups: Leon and JP took the men, while Lourens took the group of 9 girls. Playground for almost grown-ups: Pic: dtvPlayground for almost grown-ups: Pic: dtv We did cones. Lots of them. They even became fun after a while, and some of them even survived intact. We rode up steep hills and down even steeper ones. The girls could eventually even do this without screaming too much. We learned to slow the bike down on a narrow little descent, balance, look for the best line, and change direction without running Lourens down at the bottom of the hill. We practiced locking the rear wheel and skidding the bike, both on the flat and on a descent. Later we did emergency braking; then some of us did not want to do anything else ;-) Perfect emergency braking: Pic: MortenPerfect emergency braking: Pic: Morten We learned to lift the front wheel (millimeters do count), and jump over obstacles, this one obstacle being a hu-u-u-u-u-u-uge tree stump. Well. Ummm. Smallish log then. The bravest of the brave girls (Rynet, Antoinette, Celia, Noeline and Ilze) even jumped the water hole, with some impressive emergency braking at the end of it. Yes there was a sidestand incident or two and a bush or three next to the sand track may have been modified a bit, but come to think of it, that must have been done by the boys who were there the day before us ;-) On the Sunday, the boys even went to the Beach (''aka The bitch'') to play, with plenty of interesting war stories afterwards. Since this is a family forum, the comments made in the "How Suspension Works" class relating to when stiffer is better, or the comments about how to best fill a hole in the "How to Fix A Puncture" discussion, are best left unrepeated.
