Darling Ontbyt

Aaaggg, more gaan ek Mozambique toe vir werk. (Moet iets doen om die fietse te onderhou)

With me away next week and it looks as if Marinda will not have her 650GS in time for the track day we decided to get in as much miles as possible.  I lowered the front of the dakkie about 30mm, took the seat off and there she go. Fortunately se said that she got the base to handle the chassis and whatever normally protect the bum.  A folded towel made the 'seat' as comfortable as an 800.  Lekker.  Saturday we took a trip out to Contermanskloof as prep to see if she can get the feet down with the seat on. (My dakkie seat is lowered) I went on Mikes dakkie.  A bit of negotiations with Michelle to get her 125 Wannabee road bike and we were set for the Sunday 'road trip' to Darling.

Marinda rode her gloves off to stay with me!!!

Not knowing how fast Meep (the sound of the 125's hooter) will go we left Durbanville 7:20.  Our first stop at the N7 engen we realized that the speedometer is roughly 15km/h optimistic.  I was 'gunning' it down the N7 at an indicated 120 when Marinda informed me that she was just over 100.  Damnnn. This thing is so light the crosswind made it a real pleasue as I had something to do at 80. Laughing

We made a few other stops as we realised we would be in Darling before 8:30. The old lady decided to 'rest' out of the wind at one of our stops.

Ma rus bietjie uit die wind. Of was dit iets anders?

After some rides around town we arrived at Brigs just after 9.

The rest of the group arrived and we had LEKKER KOFFIE EN ONTBYT.

Some always swing along

We then had to get going to be back before nightfall.  It would be a headwind all the way back.

That little motor did not know what hit it.  All uphills and some other sections had to be done in 4th as I did not like cruising at 60.  At the turnoff to Durbanville we stopped for a well deserved strech. (Ha Ha) We decided to phone my boet in Somerset west for a cofee break.  We arrived back home in Durbanville after the detour and a mellow braai.

It is during trips like these when I really enjoy the company of the other club members.

Adie and Marinda.

Moeder raaf sê sy is nou reg vir die 'track day'

A Big Thank you to GS John for organising and leading his 1st Breakfast run to Darling - the breakfast was outstanding and so was the company. The first dirt road was slightly more lose than expected, but once that was out of the way the roads were excellent.  The wind was a bit of a pain, but all in all a great day in the saddle Cool.

thanx John, you have the makings of a great road captain.

Well not doubt is dirty girl not to be,  the sand was too loose for my liking and its too risky for future trips as one never knows what the condition of the roads will be.  Neels was not around to ride my bike and neither was there a backup to hop into.

I am going nowhere slowly as I have given my trip to Nowhere to Rob1.
