I did my solo Annual trip in September and can recommend the following Places: Tsumeb: Caravan Park, is fine, they are busy with development and the Ablution facilities need attention, but is clean with hot water showers. Beautiful lawn and very safe. Just make sure that you get to the Hotel early, because their kitchen close at 08:00 on a Saturday and I believe earlier during the week. The Makalani Hotel great, and is highly recommended, they serve the best meals in town. Caprivi: Protea Zambezi River Lodge. Neat Hot Showers, Very nice Restaurant in the Hotel, Very Safe. The campsite is on the banks of the Zambezi and covered with lush green lawn. Livingstone: Maramba River Lodge: Neat Hot Showers, Very Safe. The campsite is on the banks of the river. I saw Hippo’s in the water next to the restaurant while I had supper. Nice Bar and Restaurant, friendly people. Francistown: Cresta Marang Hotel’s campsite: Neat Hot Showers, Very nice Restaurant in the Hotel, Very Safe. Very neat, campsite surface is gravel, but neat and clean with lawn in the centre that surrounds the Ablution facilities.

Hi Ross Check out these sites: for makgadikgadi pans (based near gweta) - www.uncharteredafrica.com There is a great place called Planet Baobab. Easy access to the Makgadigadi park and Pans from there. They have camping, but also really stunning "cottages" that are affordable and well worth staying at. An awesome swimming pool and great bar. You'll get everything on their site and more. They are part of a group that has more exclusive camps like Jack's camp, in the pans itself - worth it if you have the budget! Shakawe: -www.drotskycabins.com/ swampstop.co.bw There are many similar establishments along the river - all similar prices etc and probably not necessary to book in advance. Namibia: If you need accomm near the border at Noordoewer : Norotshama - www.norotshamaresort.com There is one campsite on the river's edge - worth trying to book that in advance, the others are further back. At least you could have your evening sundowners and braai overlooking the picturesque river and mountain view. There are ample chalets and 2 cute "floating chalets" on the waters edge. Restaurant bar pool etc. They are about 50km from the border. Near Fish River: www.gondwana-canyon-park.com There site is comprehensive and will give you a good idea of their facilities. We recently stayed at the Canon roadhouse. Great campsite - we had a troop of kudu cruising past our tent in the early morning! Not a far drive from the canyon either. Do yourself a favour though and stop off at the Canon Lodge's Self Sufficiency centre. (its about 30km from the roadhouse) Buy some of their cheese and meat for your braai - They have the best game wors and steaks! If you need accomm near Mariental, then stay at their Kalahari Anib lodge. They only have 3 camping sites - but plenty other accomm if need be. (part of the group) If you plan to go to Sossusvlei - the campsite at the entrance at Sesriem is expensive - but if you want to save time and get in to the dunes early it may be worth it. They charge 300 per site and 150 per person. There are other campsites but the closest is about 40kms away. I'll try remember the names if you need. Otherwise Solitaire is a popular option if you dont mind the distance. www.namibia-1on1.com/solitaire.html There is a great guestfarm with camping and all the facilities almost directly opposite Solitaire. www.solitaireguestfarm.com Worth checking out. Swakopmund: Alte Brucke Rest camp and conference centre. Very comfy lawn to camp on with your own ablutions. :) Brandberg: www.brandbergwllodge.com/ This is closer to to Brandberg mountains, a really beaut setting and great sunset / sundowner view from the "koppie" behind the lodge. There is another lodge with a similar name - but that is based in the town of Uis. Windhoek: www.monteironamibia.com Cool campsite with pool about 15kms outside of Windhoek. You'll have to buy supplies in town though as they don't sell anything. (All the other places mentioned have braaipacks / drinks and/or restaurants and bars) Let me know what your proposed route is as I may have some other suggestions.
