GS Challenge, West Coast Tour, hospital operation, marriage in Secunda, long weekend, school holiday – and do not forget about the rain. Surely the breakfast run was going to be a non-event. Think again, 15 bikes and 18 people showed up. Chritso Lombard’s wife, Petro, joined us for her first group ride.
A steady ride via the N1, Klapmuts, R44 to Wellington. From Wellington to Nuwekloof pass the road works allowed a nice opportunity to stretch the legs. All along we were riding in the sun, with dark clouds on either side of the road. At Boulders Bush Pub the coffee was waiting for us.
View from balcony
Last time we were here it was autumn. Now, in spring, the fruit trees are in full blossom. On the “balcony” we stood in awe of the sound of the birds in the air. The second cup of coffee was hardly poured when the buffet table started attracting attention. A short que and then the silence fell. While we were enjoying breakfast, the rain started sifting down gently.
Good food and good company
Eventually everybody started putting on their rain clothes. However, nobody could leave until Neil took the future owner for a ride around the yard. Nuwekloof pass, Riebeeck castle and the Malmesbury saw the whole group riding together. In Malmesbury the big split took place, some towards the N7 and others towards Durbanville.
