BMW BIKE FEST 2013

This weekend, it can be argued, that the best BMW bike fest to date, took place at Goudini Spa and Resort nestled in the Slanghoek Valley, in the Western Cape.

Personally I had a fantastic experience - I don't know how one couldn't though - with over 500 bikes, and people who share the same passion all in one room together. We had riders from Dubai as well as BMW executives from Germany, Canada and Australia.

To add to the fest there were three BMW on call cars ready to assits, Atlantic Motorad set up a workshop with mechanics, and there were medics and an ambulance.

The food was delicious every evening and dessert consisted of cupcakes, ice-cream and malva pudding. Every evening we were also entertained by slide shows of the days events and live entertainment by The Undercover Band, Francious, and Karen K. (the dance floor was bustling with both young and old - whether it was a fast langarm or just a slow sway) Smile

Goudini Spa has fast become a well-run, clean and beautiful accommodation resort.

I think a highlight for me was watching the Gymkana Technical challenge co-ordinated by John Carr. The 10 BRAVE participants shared between them over R20 000's worth of prizes - including BMW vouchers, luggage and carbon neck braces.  I also know one of the riders who was unlucky and fell on his first round, had a wound down to the bone, however he bandaged it up and went gun's blazing into his second round - he eventually came third. Smile (afterwards he went to get stitches)

Most importantly the BMW Bike Fest 2013 was filmed by Libra Vision and will be aired on the Ignition channel on the 27th and 28th of April. (a date for the diary!) Thank you dad for all your hard work and for being so very passionate about what you do - and to his trusty sidekick, Warren Ellwood, you organized a fantastic bike fest, thank you for all your effort! Smile

And once again a magic event, well organised and run. Thanks must go to Warren, Trevor, John, Dave and their crews, it's so dangerous to name for fear of missing some of the hard working persons bringing up the rear, the execution was great. Well done to ALL.

Great event! Thanks to all involved in organizing. It was nice meeting the club members that I only read about on the forum, especially the crowd around our table.
