Hey Russ Great Trip Report and some lekker Photo’s Thanks for taking the time and trouble to put it together. I think sometimes we read these trip reports and don’t realize the schlep it is to put it together resize photos and upload them in the correct order. It’s actually sad that of the 200 odd people that have read it only 2 Guys on the TOUR and Neil took the time to say thanks. How’s about some input from the other 12 on this tour ,you’re feelings experiences good and bad that we can learn from. It's great 2 read and experience what you guys did and endured. It seems all too often the Forum is Used to Bitch or Complain or repost some WILD DOG BANTER on a new thread. Come On Guys give us MORE. Thanks a again Buddy

Nope, totally wrong there Hayleyscomet! There were so many "THANK YOU" emails flowing between us after that trip that the organisers' in-boxes must have been clogged! Rony and Daniels' next trip already short listed by the guys who were on this one. No bitching and complaining from them :-) And to the guys on the trip, anyone found Rony's sleeping bag yet? (I have a pillow for him for the next trip) :-) ''If you can dream it you can do it!''

HayleysComet yes thanks for reminding me I did want to thank Russ for taking the time to put together these fotos I know it does take a long time to do and he is a busy man, and also Hennie for your fotos , in both instances I think your respective fotos tell a nice story and in light of the fact that none of us actually wrote a trip report the fotos at least gives us a nice pictorial ,and a pretty apt one too :) And PeteO is also right the fellow Baviaans Kloof trippers sent a few dozen e-mails to each other and esp to Rony and Daniel upon our return and we also added onto the original thread : http://www.bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/baviaans-and-around-easter-2009 Also see the nice and informative trip report done by our own very special Geelkameel last year at : http://www.bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/baviaanskloof-oktober-08 I can only speak for me but I have been far too busy to do the trip report, and also I had flu for most of the week -end so missed the two really hectic rides , but I can say the rides, accommodation, and food that Rony and Danny planned were top class and we had lots of great experiences and fun too .I must say I pity the person who tries to put it into words as the week -end made me speechless ,but in a good way . I am just unable to translate the experience into mere words :) it is dificult to say why, it was just a very special and unique rough and ready experience and I may not be able to put it into words, but I do know that I want to go Rough and Ready again very soon :) I am seeing some of the Rough & Ready guys tonite and I will try and convince someone to at least write something about the routes that we did to get there and back , and also the two really hectic routes that the manne and Gizzie did on the Saturday and Sunday as it is too good to miss out on :) ''"4 wheels move the body,'' ''2 wheels move the soul"''

Once again to all fellow 2009 Easter weekend Baviaaners, thanks for the wonderful time had by me, thanks for the trust you put into me and the positive response I had overhaul! I already have a dozen names of people wanting to join our next adventure riding trip and it’s not even planned properly yet, that on his own says the trip was a success. Problem is however no-one will ever believe me again if I say it’s going to be an easy Sunday morning ride up the mountain. This weekend “Rough and Ready” are going scouting for the next trip and we will try our best to bring back loads of potential biking fun and no we are not revealing anything yet! Just this time we may encounter the “Sand monster” somewhere! Do it today, maybe there is no tomorrow! Rony Desodt

This trip is not suitable for vegetarians !!!! It is a mobile, off-road steakhouse with an open air bar attached. The daily work out takes place in nature with some leisurely, easy excursions up and down hill to build up an appetite and reasonable thirst. The restaurant manager and various personal trainer assist you with your daily needs. It is probably the best organised fitness centre in the Western Cape. Still looking for words to describe our experience !! Thank you again, Well done Rony and Daniel.

Hahaha Olaf well said :) some great moments for me : - the meat , the meat and the meat , thanks Rony :) - the ride up , esp the last bit before Baviaans Kloof there was some serious dips in the road and all came too suddenly to slow down , I don't actually know how the bike made it through without crashing, or stayed in one piece ; -the quiteness of Baviaans , spending a whole day alone with 30 baboons ; - lying in my tent listening to Generaal and Hennie cracking jokes till early hours on the first evening ; - watching Rony and Hennie cook; - the camaraderie between everyone; - the support and help between everyone; - having a serious and deep spiritual discussion with Pol the back up driver ; -the fun and laughter; - hearing the hair -raising stories about the Saurday and Sunday rides from the guys and Gizzie who did it and conquered; -and the best of all the prize -giving each evening by the very entertaining Rony who I think has missed his other calling as a top class entertainer. Each night's prizes were unique and funny . I won a prize on the last night , for having come all the way to Baviaans and then ( due to a rotten flu ) after having made it to the campsite I never left the camp site at all until we went home so saw nothing of Baviaans kloof ! ; -Rusty won a booby prize every night so his bike had to wear the plastic water wings nearly every day ; -watching Rusty being as exhuberant and naughty as only he can be ; -on the a water break Rusty just HAD to ride over this VERY steep little hill next to the road just because it was there( pic above ) ( Russel antics) with his full panniers etc , and then he did it again ! ( I had to close my eyes in fear ) no wonder Gizzie is so brave , she has to live with Rusty :) ;) -Olaf and Pete's humour; - Pete's gigantic tent; -Maria's smiles; -going to this cute quaint bottle store with the thickest walls with Willy and the lovely Maria ( Mauritzio's wife ) and putting in our order of alcohol for the last night at Baviaans. We had everyone's order written down by the ever efficient JdJ on a paper plate. I think we emptied the entire contents of the store ; -the great ride off -road ride back from Baviaans , dirt all the way to Knysna through some lovely forests and the Sewe week poort ; - being amazed that when a car drove towards me in sewe week poort which is NARROW he left me with only a few cm of road that I could ride on,in fact I had to ride so much on the edge of the road that my bike was leaning 45 degrees but despite that ,and thanks to training from Lourens I still opened up instead of dying with fear!! I think if I had tried to stop I would have fallen off the road; - great seafood lunch at Mossel Bay sea front enjoying some last socialising with a great group of people; - seeing how the guys and Gizzie rode the last 5 km before the tunnel hehe I never knew that this was an off -road section; - smiling all the way home and excited about my next Rough and Ready trip ''"4 wheels move the body,'' ''2 wheels move the soul"''
